Community Outreach

Hem of Hope Foundation isn’t just about scholarships and mentorship — it’s about showing up for our communities. From barbershop talks to coat drives to building clinics, we believe love looks like action. Our outreach programs meet people where they are, creating spaces of care, connection, and opportunity.

Celebrating Our Scholarship Recipients

One of our proudest moments as a foundation — awarding $1,000 scholarships to deserving students in support of their pursuit of education.

This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to breaking barriers and empowering the next generation to reach their full potential. It’s more than financial support — it’s a vote of confidence in each student’s God-given potential and a reminder that their community believes in them.

Supporting Students at Thomas Jefferson High School

Through scholarships, mentorship, and hands-on opportunities, we’re proud to support students at Thomas Jefferson High School — helping them pursue education, explore careers, and build brighter futures.

This partnership reflects our mission in action: equipping students with the resources, encouragement, and connections they need to step into their God-given potential.

Inspiring Students at the Denver Nuggets AVID Event

At an AVID event hosted during a Denver Nuggets game, our founder Josiah Gordon had the privilege of speaking to hundreds of high school students about the importance of education and the power of perseverance.

Moments like these reflect our mission to encourage and equip students to pursue their dreams with confidence — reminding every young person that their story matters and their future is worth fighting for.

Back-to-School Giveaway at O.N.I.’s Barbershop

One of our very first events, we partnered with O.N.I.’s Barbershop to give students free haircuts and provide them with over 100 different types of school supplies as they prepared for the new school year.

We were honored to have the support of Tommy Bruner and Trey Edmonds (Minnesota basketball player), who joined us in celebrating and investing in our students’ success.

Working Alongside Dr. Oswaldo Grenardo & the Center for African American Health

Our founders had the privilege of assisting Dr. Oswaldo Grenardo and the Center for African American Health in supporting the launch of a free clinic serving the local African American community.

Though not a direct initiative of Hem of Hope, this partnership reflects our heart for service and our commitment to the medical pipeline. By contributing to projects like this, we help open doors for greater representation and access in healthcare — creating lasting impact for families and communities.

Bringing Medicine to the Classroom

We hosted a panel of incredible doctors at Thomas Jefferson High School, giving students the opportunity to hear firsthand about careers in the medical field.

Through open discussions and personal stories, students were given a unique glimpse into the world of medicine — and encouragement to see themselves in it. This event reflects our commitment to strengthening the medical pipeline for underrepresented communities, inspiring the next generation of healthcare leaders.

With Dr. Johnny Johnson — Retired OBGYN & Mile High Medical Society Leader

A meaningful connection with Dr. Johnson, whose lifelong leadership in medicine and advocacy continues to inspire our vision.

While not a foundation-led initiative, moments like these strengthen our medical pipeline efforts — fostering representation, mentorship, and a legacy of leadership for future healthcare professionals.

Giving Back at Prime Time Barbershop

We hosted an amazing day at Prime Time Barbershop in Aurora, where local barbers partnered with us to give students free haircuts.

CU Buffs football player Arden Walker joined us to show support, and together we surprised students with brand-new bikes as a reward for their hard work and high grades.

It was a day full of community, encouragement, and celebration — a reminder of what’s possible when neighbors come together to invest in the next generation.

Jehovah Jireh Hoodie Fundraiser

We partnered with Young Sons of God, a Colorado-based clothing brand, to design custom hoodies featuring “Jehovah Jireh” on the front and our emblem of lending a hand on the back.

Through this collaboration, we raised $500 — giving a portion to Purpose Center Church in Aurora and using the rest to support the educational needs of students.

We were blessed to have support from Arden Walker (CU Buffs football) and Tommy Bruner (Denver University basketball alum, Be Different Foundation founder, and current NBA G League player). It was a beautiful example of faith, community, and impact coming together.
